For 40 years, Jim Crosby has represented businesses, from large, sophisticated institutional clients to Mom-and-Pop shops, and individual clients in a wide variety of business disputes. With extensive litigation and trial experience, Jim has earned a reputation for his savviness in handling high-profile and sophisticated business matters.
A cornerstone of Jim’s success is his close client relationships, and his commitment to aggressively advocating on his clients’ behalf. While Jim and his team represent both plaintiffs and defendants in all types of complex business litigation, his firm focuses primarily on commercial, contract, intellectual property, unfair competition, real property, and business tort litigation in state and federal courts.

Every matter is handled directly by attorney Jim Crosby, with the assistance of his skilled associate attorney, Tereza Callender, and paragegal, Jaclyn Shepherdson. His experience covers nearly all aspects of business dispute resolution, litigation, and trials. A Mentor Committed to the Legal Community
Jim Crosby regularly serves as a mentor to young attorneys informally and through the University of San Diego School of Law Alumni Mentoring Program. Jim also serves in a variety of volunteer leadership positions in San Diego and throughout the state of California. His statewide leadership includes service as a Commissioner on the Judicial Nominees Evaluation (JNE) Commission of the State Bar of California. His leadership in the San Diego legal community includes service as the President of the Board of Directors of the University of San Diego School of Law Alumni Association, Vice President and Treasurer of the San Diego County Bar Association and as President of the Bar Association of Northern San Diego County.
Jim also served on the Board of Directors of the Casa Cornelia Law Center, as a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, and as President of the San Diego County Law Library Board of Trustees. Jim also chaired the Civil Litigation Sections of both the San Diego County Bar Association and the Bar Association of Northern San Diego County and was co-host of the San Diego County Bar Association’s “Meet & Confer” podcast.
Consistent with his commitment to mentoring young attorneys and to excellence in legal profession, Jim teaches Trial Advocacy at the University of San Diego School of Law, and has long served as a Master of the Louis M. Welsh Inn of Court and a member of the Inn’s Executive Committee.
Pro Bono Commitment
Jim has brought his considerable litigation skills and experience to bear in a variety of pro bono cases privately, through pro bono providers like Casa Cornelia Law Center and the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, and upon appointment by the United States District Court for the Southern District of California under the Southern District of California’s Plan for the Representation of Pro Se Litigants in Civil Cases. Jim’s recent pro bono activities include representing refugees seeking asylum in Immigration Court, tenants and tenant organizations in housing segregation/civil rights litigation, and a prisoner in prisoner abuse/civil rights litigation upon appointment by the United States District Court.
